Creme Caramel - new
Description: Creme caramel is something you should try if not tried before, it is heaven and in Bulgaria this is one of the all time favourite desserts eaten all over the country.
1 litre full fat milk
150 grams of sugar
2/3 drops of vanilla essence
A pinch of freshly ground cinnamon
Mix the eggs and the milk well in a bowl then stir half of the sugar. Add the vanilla, cinnamon to the mixture. Put the other half of the sugar in a saucepan over a medium heat and stir continuously so the mixture does not burn. Pour the mixture into little ovenproof pots or bowls and tilt each one in a circular motion each to cover the bottom Pour in the egg and milk mixture. Place the small pots/bowls in a ovenproof saucepan with water up to a depth of 1 cm and bake in an oven for 30 minutes at 130?° C. If the tops are not quite brown, raise the temperature to 170 C for a further 5/10 minutes. Take the pots/bowl out and leave to cool. To serve loosen the sides with a knife or spoon and turn it over on a plate. A perfect treat anytime of the day either after savory food or enjoyed on its own.
I have made this recipe using mugs instead of pots or bowls as suggested, the reason? You get more crème caramel per serving this way!
